Our history

Spa @ Work was created in September 2009, and is continuing to grow. We go into companies and offer such services to include “pampered office” or “stress free office” This service is great for working ladies who don’t have time for salon appointments. The treatments can be fit it into their working day with their very own visiting mobile beauty service.

Spa @Home was created 6 months later in March 2010. based on party plan for groups of 5-15 ladies who get together to celebrate such things as hen nights, birthdays or just a fun alternative to going out. Guests can choose from a list of treatments to included both spa and beauty treatments.

After many requests for children’s pamper parties. Princess @ home was then created for a younger in April 2011. Parties are based on age ranges and can include things like chocolate fountains, non alcoholic cocktails, nails, and mini make overs.

We have contracts with Universities, Schools, Conference Centres, Management Centres, local business and many more types of establishments.

What ‘Professional Beauty Magazine’ said about us

“In the current climate, BABTAC member Julie Drummond’s interesting spin on the industry increases opportunities and suggests a different and potentially complementary way of working.

Over 13 million sick days a year are taken through work related stress, anxiety or depression. This is costing companies and the government billions of pounds every year in loss of production and sick pay. Human resource department are beginning to realise that by offering simple access to in-house massage, whether at the company’s cost, or offered as an independent service to staff, that it is financially more rewarding than repetitive sick days which are often due to low staff morale. This is where BABTAC member Julie Drummond’s business comes in.

Julie has managed to fill this need with two successful business models; Spa@work and Spa@homeJulie set up Spa@work after receiving constant requests from men to massage treatments, who didn’t want to visit a salon. It was thought that massage in the work place was a great compromise as this could be done at the client’s convenience. Problems such as sore aching neck, shoulders and back, due to hours spent at a computer terminal, behind the wheel of a car, or simple stress could be addressed. Different packages can be tailored to each situation.”

“Julie developed Spa@home after noticing that due to hectic lifestyles, ladies increasingly kept in touch via text, email or Facebook, with the personal touch of meeting up for a chat being lost somewhat. These party plan style events are becoming more popular as a viable alternative to going out for expensive meals or visiting noisy pubs. Again, the ingredients of the evening are bespoke and can include a ranges of treatments, depending on the mood and feel of the evening required.

Julie managed to obtain funding of £1000 in Sheffield, which was supported by the Chamber of Commerce and local business link. The funding was intended to help Julie to generate marketing materials and to fund her website development.

So, maybe it is worth thinking outside of the box; take therapy to the streets and homes of clients. An enterprising spirit such as this certainly deserves to succeed and provides some interesting food for thought. The beauty, of course, is that this can be worked around regular mobile or salon appointments, running alongside in tandem. Maybe take a look at different ways of working like Julie did and capitalise on new opportunities.”

Nick Foley, Royal Mail – Barnsley

“We asked Julie to come in and give half hour massages as a thank you to all the staff for all their hard work over the summer. As they enjoyed it so much I am going to set an incentive each month to boost performance and use the treatments as a reward for the high achievers.”

Lousia Harrison-Walker, Benchmark Recruit

“We are a very busy office with some staff travelling an 80 mile round trip daily. We start early and often finish late, and don’t always have the time to relax, and take care of ourselves. Spa @ Work has provided us with a solution. Our “Julie” days have become special to us, and cannot overstate the convenience of having our treatments at work at a time that suits us. Inviting Spa@Work into your office is to invite peace and calm, and thinking time which everyone will benefit.”
